Apple CarPlay & Android Auto for Nissan Pathfinder 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 R52 (How To Install) – Nifty City

Hey everyone today we’ll be installing apple carplay and android auto in a nissan pathfinder 2018 year model the kit we will be using for this upgrade is the nifty city kit it comes with all the relevant cables the module and all the necessary upgrades to have apple carplay and android auto inside the pathfinder they have many other vehicles for different makes and

Models and years go check them out to find your car there and i’ll show you the contents of that box and then we’ll get through to the installation let’s go ahead and give you a look inside this box you’ll find here a harness both these connectors will be going to the back of the screen and then you have the audio channel which will go to the back of the head unit

You have the ldvs cable which will go from the printed circuit board that you must install inside the screen that printed circuit board will then go to the module via this cable gps for vehicles that do not have gps a wireless apple carplay dongle that you must connect to the module the printed circuit board which is inside here usb cables for extra usb inputs for

Usb flash drives or charging your phones or using apple carplay and android auto via a wired connection beautiful isn’t it let’s get started i almost forgot to mention that they do provide helpful booklets and follow through videos as you can see here it’s great they’ve also got troubleshooting on the bottom there but they show you diagrams and where everything

Fits how to use it how to install the printed circuit board it’s great first thing we’re going to do is we’re going to pop off the trim under the screen just use a dash removal tool so you don’t snap any plastics just like that once you’ve removed that top screw you can go ahead and hold on to both ends from the top here and pry forward the keypad just like that

And then there are two clips that you need to remove two connectors that you need to remove once you’ve removed the keypad and the connectors at the back of the keypad you then need to remove these two screws here once you’ve removed them you can safely pry out the trim around the screen there we go you can remove the vents along with the dash once you’ve removed

The trim around the screen you then need to remove these screws here one two three four to get to the screen in order to remove the screen some pathfinders might not have this metal trim here it’s fine just move it out of the way it just holds the head unit together and then we’ve gone ahead and removed all four screws from here so we’ll go ahead and remove the

Screen now there are connectors at the back of the screen so be careful how hard you pull now we need to remove all connectors at the back of the screen it’s okay these connectors are all color-coded and they only fit in one spot so you can go ahead and remove them all this is what it looks like once i’ve removed the screen you’ll see that the top two connectors

Are each their own size and then the bottom ones are color-coded so you can’t mess this up the printed circuit board only needs to be installed in nissan and infinity vehicles after 2017 this applies to cars like the pathfinder patrols infinity qx 80 infinity uh q50 and q60 these require printed circuit boards to be installed inside the screen now let’s go ahead and

Take the screen into the workshop so we can install the printed circuit board inside the screen now we’re in the workshop we have the printed circuit board that goes inside the screen we have the clips to hold down this circuit board we have the ldvs cable that goes from this circuit board to the module and then you have spare ribbon cables in case you rip the ones

That are already on the board let’s go ahead and unpack this screen we need to go ahead and remove the bracket first one two and then three four on the other side let’s go ahead and remove them once you’ve removed the bracket of the screen you can go ahead and remove all other screws one two just behind the sticker there three four five six seven eight nine 10 11

12 13 14 15. once you’ve removed all 16 screws you can go ahead and separate the back plate i’ll show you how to do this there you go just like that and there will be a connector for the fan be careful not to rip this wire it’s just there on the corner just press the clip and there you go you’ve separated the back plate this part does require some sturdy hands go

Ahead and remove the screw right in the middle there and then you need to go ahead and disconnect a few ribbon cables and the antenna remove that that and that just lift the clip up and slide out the ribbon cable just like that same thing here lift the plastic the black plastic bit up and then slide out the cable and same thing here lift the white clip instead

Upwards towards you and then slide out the ribbon cable once you’ve disconnected three ribbon cables one two and three you can go ahead and disconnect the antenna cable there there we go and then you can go ahead and pull apart the board and you’ll go ahead and grab nifty city’s printed circuit board and place it in the same area as the ribbon cables now you’ll

See there are three white dots on the board line these up with the holes on the actual casing of the screen so just like that there we go and you’ve lined up the circles just like that okay stage one i’ve placed the printed circuit board down smashed in those black screws there i’ve connected the factory ribbon cables to the nifty city board one and two now

These two must go to the factory screen and this factory cable must go back to factory this doesn’t necessarily go through to the nifty city board and there we go i’ve plugged in the nifty city ribbon cables back into the factory circuit board and then don’t forget to plug in the ldvs into the nifty city board and bring it out from the casing so you can plug

That into the module this is what it should look like the cable rested inside the casing this is what it should look like when the screen is back together with the nifty city printed circuit board installed with the ldvs hanging out let’s go back to the car and install this now we’ve done the screen part so let’s put that aside for now we then need to move out the

Head unit that’s the hedge unit there we need to pull this out so we can install the audio channel there we go we need to plug this in from the back of the head unit and we need to find a place a suitable location to hide the module once you’ve removed the two screws you can go ahead and pop the trim from the top there and then lift up towards you there will be

A connector at the bottom so just remove that from behind the keypad it’s actually for the climate control there and then you can go ahead and remove that and then next we’re going to go ahead and remove the two screws underneath here to remove the hedge unit as we’ve already moved the two screws at the top there i’ve gone ahead and tilted the head unit as far as

I could without removing any connectors you don’t need to do much back here the only thing you need to do is you need to loop in with the audio channel and that connector hides a little it’s actually right here under the big connector so i’ll remove it and i’ll show you where it is so there you are it’s just this one right here and then go ahead and plug in nifty

City there we go and then plug in the factory into nifty city just like that so factory nifty city nifty city into hedge unit and then you’ll plug in the auxiliary from the main harness which is right here there we go it has a sound out from the main harness you plug these two together now a suitable location to hide the module will probably have to be somewhere

Down here behind the head unit to the side just against the trim of the glove box now i suggest this to everyone before finalizing your installation and hiding the module behind the dash and all sorts and packing the car back together i would suggest lazy slapping everything together and testing it out before packing the car back together okay this will save a

Lot of trouble okay so this is what i mean by lazy slapping the car back together just reach out those two wires ldbs and power and make sure that it works cool so we can see it definitely works connect the usb ports and the dongle connect wirelessly and see if it works steering yep it works here we go cool definitely works temperature awesome so

While putting the car back together you’ve ensured the audio channel is connected at the back of the head unit installed the two connectors at the back of the screen thrown out the ldvs to the module from the screen to the module as well and then you’ve connected the auxiliary between the main harness and the audio channel that goes at the back of the head unit

There okay i spent the last literally three minutes to go ahead and pack the module i’ve just packed it on the side wall there to the left hand side of the hedge unit and i’ve only brought out one usb port for the dongle in case i need to charge or chuck in some usbs i can use this that’s all i really need to have hanging out go ahead and slap the screen back on

The screws the metal brackets and all other plastic trims and you’re good to go and here we are we’ve packed the module in the very far corner there we’ve put back the head unit the buttons trim for the screen and the connectors for the final keypad two screws go back in there and let’s go ahead and boot up carplay and test it all out we’ve put everything back

Together and we’ll go ahead and switch over to the nifty city system we’ll click and hold the back button for two seconds easy as that guys um you can use the factory buttons to move around the knob control volume steering everything on the steering wheel will work like normal climate control will show up on the screen go ahead and turn it on there we go you can

See it at the bottom here turn that off for now audio like usual if audio is so if it shows that it’s playing but you don’t hear anything turn up the volume if you still don’t hear anything just go ahead and click the media button on the dash this will switch to the audio channel there we go and like normal guys everything works great fantastic i hope that my
