Honda Civic Type R vs Old NSX -DRAG RACE, ROLLING RACE & BRAKE TEST | Head-to-Head

It’s 2005 vs 2017 for our latest series of tests as we pit the Honda NSX against a Civic Type R. It’s not just age that is the only difference here – the rear-wheel-drive NSX has 280hp, while the front-wheel-drive Type R has 320hp. So can the latter teach the old dog some new tricks? Stick with us to find out!

I’m in a 2005 honda nsx next to me is a 2017 honda civic type-r i’ve got 3.2 liter v6 with vtec and 280 horsepower he’s got a 2-liter turbo with a reverse vtec thing and 320 horsepower his front wheel drive i’m ray wheel drive we’re gonna have a drag race good traction rear-wheel drive better in front of the line it’s price though i can hold on to my resin

All the way to maine thousand rpm come on nsx whoa that was close rear drive traction versus front wheel drive traction and the facts i can rev out to eight thousand i could just see the difference because i could hold on to those lower gears for longer so more torque at the wheels for longer that’s what did it so let’s see what happened the nsx did the standing

Quarter mile in 13.5 seconds or the civic type-r took thirteen point six seconds that’s not too bad considering the current high bar cost from thirty one and a half thousand pounds though you can save about a thousand pounds i want by clicking on the pop-out banner to go to con wacom the nsx meanwhile was 60,000 pounds back in the day though this one is worth about

One hundred thousand pounds now but how will it fare in my next challenge right now we can have a rolling race from 50 miles an hour in third gear he’s got 14 new meters of torque which comes in around two and a half thousand rpm i’ve got about 298 new meters but that’s gonna be pretty high up in the vtec zone and at this speed i’m not in vtec but let’s see what

Happens anyway right in three two one go oh this picks up quicker because there’s no lag but then is off but not by much i think it’s pretty obvious what happened there i picked up pretty quick and it was close but he’s on boots like ah yeah it didn’t do too bad from 4000 rpm wasn’t fully in vtech but yeah it was good nice result final challenge then we’re gonna

Have a braking test from 70 miles an hour when we hit the cone fall emergency stop see which car stops in the shortest distance cup an old car come on old car oh look at the smoke coming off his tires but we just have a lock yeah i think he just broke in a slightly shorter distance not bad for an old car though really quite impressive they enjoyed this video please
